Nordenham

Nordenham is a town located at the mouth of the Weser River and is situated in the nearby of such cities as Oldenburg, Bremerhaven and Bremen. The atmosphere of this small town, with its cosy alleys and many cafés is enchanting. The economy of the town is influenced by such big enterprises as Airbus S.A.S., Rhenus AG & Co. KG , the biggest privat harbour in Germany or Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke AG & Co. KG, where a great part of the town citizens are employed.

In an analysis concerning twin towns conducted by students of the University of Warsaw, the cooperation between Świnoujście and Nordenham was evaluated highly.

Cooperation in the field of culture and sport
There are many events being organised in the twin towns, which contribute to the better cooperation and better understanding of each other. Following events have been organised in the previous years: the day of Świnoujście in Nordenham, the days of Nordenham in Świnoujście, painting exhibition of painters from Świnoujścia in Nordenham and the other way round. The representatives of the Nordenham's authorities took part in the events connected with the access of Poland to the European Union , which took place from 30th April till  02nd May 2004 in Świnoujście. On 23th -26th  June 2006 Świnoujście and Nordenham organised together in Świnoujście an event „Together in Europe“.

Cooperation between schools
Schools from Świnoujście and Nordenham cooperate vividly, which is to be observed in school exchanges and many projects conducted together.

Cooperation between authorities
Representatives of the Nordenham's authorities took part on a congress of partner towns, which was organised on 22th -25th  July 2006 in Nordenham. Moreover, the authorities of both partner towns took part on the  meeting organised in Świnoujście, where the plans for the next year were discussed.

YSTAD

Ystad is a picturesque town in the southern part of Sweden, which plays an important cultural and economic role in the region Skåne County. An important commercial and passenger port is located in the town.

Relations between Świnoujście and Ystad are to be traced back to 60s, when the first ferry connection between two ports was set up. The political climate of these days did not, however, did not create favourable conditions for the cooperation to be developed. Signing of the cooperation agreement took place on 25th January 1990. Co-organized initiatives and projects in the years 1990-2001 contributed to establishment of long lasting contacts. As a part of the agreement many working meeting were held, whose effect was cooperation between official and investors in the field of public utilities and maritime affairs. It is among others owing to the vivid cooperation with the district Ystad and financial support of Sweden that an office was grounded, who aim was to popularise the European Union ideas and to familiarize inhabitants of Świnoujście with them. The office spread the information about European Union, about the possibilities of the taking part in various project and initiatives as well as helped with finding partners and gaining funds.

Common activities:
- The days of Ystad in Świnoujście while the days of Skåne – May 1999
- Conference Convention 2001 – The conference organised by Bureau Carrefour with the support of trade organisation Resurs Ystad provided Polish and Swedish companies with a chance to meet, present their business activity and have a conversation with their future partners. Additionally, seminars concerning customs regulations, economic realities and cultural differences between Poland and Sweden were held. In the conference participated 70 Polish and Swedish companies from different areas.
- Participation of the authorities from Ystad in the events connected with the access of Poland to the European Union , which took place from 30th April till 02nd May 2004 in Świnoujście
- Participation of the authorities of Świnoujście and the shanty band of Jerzy Porębski in festival of the Polish Year taking place from 12th till 14th June 2003 in Malmö
- Yearly visit of the representatives of the Lions Club from Ystad bringing gifts for the children from Świnoujście
- Yearly guest performance about the life of Saint Lucia performed by a group of girls from Ystad,organized by Lions Club from Ystad

SVETLY

Svetly is a town located in Kaliningrad Oblast in the vicinity of Kaliningrad. The town has a very well developed transport network and maritime affairs. A ship repair yard and fishery are the basis of the Svetly's economy.

HERINGSDORF

The municipality Heringsdorf is located on the German part of the Island of Usedom. It was created in December 2004 out of three „Kaiserbäder“ (Engl. Emperor's seaside health resorts): Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin. It is famous for its extraordinary „Bäderarchitektur“ (Engl. Architecture of the mansions and villas).

The most vital examples of the common enterprises: Polish-German secondary school class (Gimnazjum Publiczne nr 2 in  Świnoujście and Maxim Gorky Gymnasium in Heringsdorf),the Usedom Music Festival, International Świnoujście-Wolgast Marathon, cooperation of the Polish Fire Brigade and the Volunteer Fire Brigade from Ahlbeck, cooperation between nursery schools, sports club as well as non-governmental organizations.

OSTVORPOMMERN

County Ostvorpommern is located in the north-eastern part of Germany and stretched out from the Island of Usedom to the Hanseatic City Greifswald and northwards to the town Anklam. It has an access to the sea and boardes on Poland (a border crossing Świnoujście)

The cooperation between Świnoujście and County Ostvorpommern exists for a long time, but was tightened in the moment of the access of Świnoujście to the Pomerania Euroregion (28th September 1993). Examples of the common enterprises: The Mouth of the River Świna a Landscape of the Year (1994), Transnational planning of the Islands Usedom and Wolin, Polish-German Forum of Women of the Pomerania Euroregion(Pol. Polsko – Niemieckie Forum Forum Kobiet established 1996), current cooperation of the Baltic municipalities in the field of development and spatial planning on the both sides of the border (from 1997), whose example the water purification plant opened in 1997 is. It was funded from Polish and German means and is meant for  Świnoujście and border German municipalities.
